Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account: your username, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text).
• Your activity: anime you mark as watched or add to lists, your reviews and thumbs up/down, your sub/dub and content preferences, and the friend connections and recommendations you create.
• Search queries: the text you type when searching, so we can return recommendations.
• Technical: a session cookie to keep you signed in, and standard server logs (including IP address) used for security and rate limiting.

How we use it

To run the service: authenticate you, generate and rank recommendations, power your lists and friend features, send password-reset emails, and protect the service from abuse. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not show behavioural advertising.

Third parties we share with

• AniList — supplies anime data. Your search text is sent to their API to look up titles.
• Anthropic (Claude)— your search text is processed to understand what you're looking for. It is not used to train models and is not tied to your identity.
• Resend — sends transactional email (e.g. password resets) to your address.
• Our hosting and database providers — store the data needed to run the service.

Some links to where you can watch a title are affiliate links; if you buy or subscribe through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps cover running costs. AniShare is not a paid service.

Your choices

• You can edit your preferences and lists at any time from your account.
• You can ask us to delete your account and associated data by emailing kenjbool@gmail.com.
• The site uses only essential cookies needed to keep you signed in.

Data retention & children

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. AniShare is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and some content is gated behind an adult-content preference you control in your profile.
